Project Engineer – Melbourne / Sydney

Emerging IT is looking for a skilled and proactive Project Engineer to deliver client-facing projects across on-premise and cloud environments. Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 per year

About the Role

• Deliver end-to-end technical projects for clients, from scoping and planning to implementation and documentation
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across networking, servers, virtualisation, and cloud platforms
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business outcomes
• Support pre-sales activities and technical scoping for new project opportunities
• Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for project delivery
• Ensure clear communication, attention to detail, and adherence to SLAs across all project activities

Core Requirements

• Azure & Automation: Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating Azure environments; automation using ARM, Bicep, and/or Terraform; hybrid connectivity; monitoring and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure
• Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD): Deployment, configuration, and support of scalable remote access solutions using AVD and FSLogix
• Cloud Platforms: Microsoft 365 and AWS – including identity, security, and endpoint management integration
• Networking: Strong skills in DNS, VLANs, routing, firewall troubleshooting (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Palo Alto)
• Virtualisation: VMware, Hyper-V
• Microsoft Infrastructure: Server, Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, Teams Phone, SharePoint
• Security & Compliance: Understanding of security frameworks and best practices
• Project & Soft Skills: Time management, project planning, scope management, client communication, attention to detail, proactive thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
• Qualifications: ITIL v4 Foundation (or understanding) preferred
• Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in IT project engineering or related field
• Work Authorisation: Australian citizenship or permanent residency required

Desirable / Nice-to-Have

• Remote Desktop solutions (Terminal Server, Citrix)
• Firewall & Security experience (Cyberoam, Cisco, Sophos, Juniper)
• Experience with cloud security, Intune, Endpoint Management, and backup solutions
