About the Role

The role provides senior technical consultation supporting the installation, availability and performance of mainframe software.

The incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of mainframe software, including IBM’s z/OS operating system and SMP/E environment.

The role requires constant liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production Services Support Centre) to provide effective service to customers. There is a further requirement to provide 24X7 on call system support on a rostered basis.

This senior position requires the incumbent possess strong mentoring skills to support and direct more junior team members.

What will your day look like?

  • Responsible for day-to-day functions including:

    • Installing new Software
    • Maintain assigned software
    • Review software level & fixes
    • Apply required and appropriate software fixes
    • Document all software activities, including configuration, procedures and problem resolutions tasks
    • Vendor engagement
    • Maintain and enforce software security standards
    • Attend and participate in required meetings and workshops
    • Ensure required backups are performed and managed
    • Provide user support
  • Ensure effective software solutions are in place to allow future development and exploitation of high availability solutions.

  • Provide input into technology project resource estimations

What will you bring?

  • High level of skill in mainframe software administration
  • Expert knowledge of IBM’s z/OS operating system.
  • Experience with IBM & BMC utilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and build good working relationships with customers, peers, staff, vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven Customer Focus and advocate of the business needs.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills, enabling easy interaction at many levels within ANZ.
  • Understanding of the business & proven ability to translate business requirements into high-quality cost-effective solutions.
  • Proven record in implementing and supporting technology services and driving change to effect substantial business value improvements.
